Carregando Atari Classics...

About the Project

What is Atari Classics?

Atari Classics is an independent project dedicated to preserving the cultural and historical memory of classic video games. Our goal is to keep alive the history of the Atari 2600, one of the most important and revolutionary consoles in video game history.

Through an online emulation platform, we allow enthusiasts, researchers, students, and nostalgic gamers to relive and study games that marked a generation and helped build the video game industry as we know it today.

Our Motivation

This project was born from a passion for video game history and the desire to preserve a cultural heritage that risks being forgotten over time.

Many of these classic games are no longer commercially available, and the original hardware is increasingly rare and inaccessible. We believe these works deserve to be preserved and studied, not only for their nostalgic value but for their historical and cultural importance.

Our commitment is to education, research, and preserving video game memory, allowing new generations to learn about the roots of this art form and entertainment medium.

The Historical Importance of the Atari 2600

Released in 1977, the Atari 2600 was one of the first globally successful home consoles and revolutionized the entertainment industry. It popularized video games in millions of homes and established concepts still used today.

Games like Space Invaders, Pac-Man, Pitfall!, and River Raid are not just entertainment — they are cultural landmarks that influenced generations of developers and players. Preserving these games is preserving a fundamental part of technology and pop culture history.
