Alligator People

Game Cover

Alligator People is a game released for the Atari 2600 console in 1983. Developed by British company Apollo, the game is inspired by the urban legend of the alligator people, mythical creatures that supposedly inhabit the swamps of the southern United States.

The goal of the game is to control a character who is trapped in an alligator-infested swamp, preventing them from capturing and devouring him. The character is represented by a small triangle on the screen, which can be moved left and right using the Atari joystick.

As the character moves through the swamp, alligators appear randomly and start moving towards him. The player must avoid being caught by the alligators, jumping over them when possible or dodging their attacks.

The game is divided into several stages, each with an increasing difficulty level. As the player progresses through the stages, more alligators appear on the screen and the game speed increases. There are also various obstacles to avoid, such as floating logs and aquatic plants.

In addition to the main game mode, Alligator People also features a two-player mode where two players can compete against each other to see who survives longest in the swamp.

Although Alligator People is not one of the most popular Atari 2600 games, it is still remembered for its challenging gameplay and unique theme. The legend of the alligator people continues to fascinate people to this day, and Alligator People is an interesting example of how that legend can be incorporated into a video game.
