Grand Prix is one of the most famous games for the Atari 2600 console. It was one of the biggest sellers for Activision in 1982, programmed by David Crane.
Grand Prix is a Formula 1 racing game. On the screen, the car is seen from a side-scrolling perspective, moving from right to left. The goal is to finish the course in the shortest time possible, while avoiding other cars and obstacles like oil slicks and bridges over water. There are four different courses of varying length and difficulty.
Like other Activision titles, players who achieved a race time under 2:30 on the toughest course could send a photo of their TV screen to receive a "Grand Prix Driving Team" patch.
