Dolphin
Dive into the Action! Activision's Dolphin Brings Marine Life and Echolocation to Atari 2600!
MOUNTAIN VIEW, California — Activision officially announces the release of Dolphin for the Atari 2600 video game system. Designed by innovative game creator Matthew Hubbard, the title features one of the most original audio-driven gameplay mechanics of the 8-bit era, guiding a dolphin through fast-paced ocean waters using sound cues.
In Dolphin, players control a swift dolphin fleeing from a relentless Giant Squid. To outrun the predator and swim toward the sun, the dolphin must pass through openings in ocean current barriers. The player relies on high and low-pitched sonar audio cues to anticipate whether the passage will appear at the top or bottom of the screen before it comes into view.
