Missile Command
Battlezone is an arcade game from Atari released in November 1980. It displays wireframe vector graphics on a black and white (later color) CRT monitor. The visuals of the gameplay are in a first-person perspective. It is set on a horizontal plane with a mountain range horizon, featuring an erupting volcano, a crescent moon, and various geometric solid shapes. The player controls a tank and is attacked by other enemy tanks and missiles (which appear on the radar), and occasionally UFOs (which award bonus points).
Considered the first successful first-person 3D shooter, Battlezone was ported to various home computers, including the Atari 2600 in 1983. Because the Atari 2600 couldn't produce wireframe graphics like the arcade, the home version uses raster graphics with a clever implementation to simulate the 3D environment.
