Miner 2049e
Released in 1983, Miner 2049er was programmed by Bill Hogue, also the creator of the original computer version. Published by Tigervision, this game is considered one of the first major hits of the platform genre on the Atari 2600.
Controlling Bounty Bob, the player must explore a series of radioactive underground mines, traversing platforms, ladders, and transporters. The goal is to walk over every section of the floor to clear them, while avoiding enemies and collecting special items that give Bob temporary powers to eliminate threats.
Miner 2049er is famous for its cartridge size: while most games of the era had only 4 KB, it used 8 KB of memory, allowing for better graphics and more levels.
