Submarine Commander
Released in 1982, Submarine Commander was programmed by Matthew Hubbard and published by AriolaSoft in Europe (the game was not officially released in the US). This is one of the few submarine simulation games on the Atari 2600, bringing a first-person naval combat experience.
Commanding a war submarine, the player has the mission to sink enemy ships, dodge attacks, and manage fuel and oxygen levels, all with a view through a virtual periscope. The player can adjust direction, depth, and choose between different types of torpedo attacks.
The differentiator of Submarine Commander is the use of radar, sonar, and compass on the interface, requiring a combination of strategy, aim, and reflexes to survive and complete missions.
