Warlords
Released in 1981 for the Atari 2600, Warlords was developed by Carla Meninsky, one of the few female programmers of the time. This classic combines frantic action with strategy in unique medieval combat resembling a cross between Breakout and Pong, but with a castle warfare twist.
In Warlords, up to four players control warriors defending their castles against fireballs launched by a dragon. The goal is simple: destroy opponents' castles while protecting your own with a moving shield. The addictive gameplay, coupled with multiplayer support, made Warlords one of the most memorable Atari games.
