Space Invaders
Space Invaders is an arcade video game designed by Tomohiro Nishikado and released in 1978. It was originally built by Taito Corporation and later licensed for production in the United States by Midway Games. Space Invaders was one of the first shooting games with two-dimensional graphics. The goal is to destroy waves of ships with a human spaceship to earn as many points as possible. To build the game, Nishikado drew inspiration from popular media, such as War of the Worlds and Star Wars. Despite its simple controls compared to today's games, this game helped expand the video game industry into a worldwide industry.
