Vanguard
Released in 1982, Vanguard was programmed by Dave Payne and published by Atari, Inc., as an adaptation of the original SNK/Centuri arcade. This is a classic of the horizontal shooter genre, with a differentiated proposal: the player pilots a ship advancing through alien caves, facing enemies from all sides.
The differential of Vanguard is the multi-directional shooting system (front, back, up, and down), as well as zero-gravity zones, stages with different screen scrolling (horizontal and vertical) and iconic soundtrack with digitized effect, inspired by the theme of Flash Gordon.
Each cave zone presents unique challenges, requiring fast reflexes and strategy until reaching the final confrontation with boss Gond.
