Mr.Postman
River Raid is a game developed by Carol Shaw and published by Activision in 1982 for the Atari 2600 console. It was later ported to the Atari 5200, Atari 8-bit family, ColecoVision, Commodore 64, IBM PCjr, Intellivision, ZX Spectrum, and MSX.
River Raid is a shooting game viewed from a top-down perspective. The player controls a fighter jet moving up the screen over a river, and must destroy enemy ships, helicopters, and bridges, as well as refill the jet's fuel by flying over fuel tanks. The player must also avoid crashing into the riverbanks or enemy aircraft. The game is divided into sections, and the player receives points for each enemy and bridge destroyed.
River Raid was the first game to use a pseudo-random number generation algorithm to create the river and enemy placement, allowing for a virtually infinite number of levels without storing them individually in memory.
