Megamania
Megamania is a game developed by Steve Cartwright and published by Activision in 1982 for the Atari 2600 console.
Megamania is one of the best-known shooter games for the Atari 2600, in which the player controls a ship moving across the bottom of the screen. Above, various types of enemy ships fired and descended slowly towards the player's ship.
Megamania is similar to the Sega arcade game "Astro Blaster". Both games have almost identical enemy approach patterns, with the player relying on an "energy" meter. The ships are remarkably similar in both games.
The band The Tubes performed a Megamania theme song in a 1982 television commercial advertising the Atari 2600 version of the game.
